Over the course of his life, Dr. Murray Bowen produced a large and invaluable collection of manuscripts and audiovisual materials—both personal and professional—all of which document the many years of his research and the development of his natural family systems theory. These materials are now housed at the National Library of Medicine (NLM), in Bethesda, MD. Their preservation and world-wide availability are the mission of The Murray Bowen Archives Project (TMBAP), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. https://murraybowenarchives.org
On the TMBAP website are original archival materials documenting Bowen’s life work, testimonials by those who have applied the theory in their own families and professional lives over the years, interviews with professionals who worked with Dr. Bowen at NIMH, and original video clips of Dr. Bowen. The website summarizes TMBAP’s efforts and offers a guide for finding more information about Bowen’s systems theory, which stands alone among other theories in the way it places the human among all living things.
